Celebrate the Legacy of the Doolittle Raiders at the National WWII Museum

The public is invited to attend a special evening of history, remembrance, and tribute as the Children of the Doolittle Raiders host a commemorative event honoring the 84th Anniversary of the Doolittle Raid on Saturday, April 18 at the National WWII Museum in New Orleans.

On April 18, 1942, just months after the attack on Pearl Harbor, 80 American airmen led by Lt. Col. James "Jimmy" Doolittle carried out one of the most daring missions in military history. Launching from the deck of the USS Hornet, they flew 16 B-25 bombers on a bold strike against mainland Japan—an unprecedented operation that helped shift the momentum of World War II by boosting American morale and demonstrating the resilience and reach of U.S. forces.

More than eight decades later, the legacy of these courageous men continues to inspire generations. This anniversary event offers the community a unique opportunity to reflect on their bravery, honor their sacrifice, and ensure their story is preserved for the future.
