The Raymond Fire Department reported with profound sadness the untimely passing of long-time RFD member Jack Hite, who served Raymond FD for approximately 32 years. Jack passed away on February 6, 2026, at the age of 67. He was born on March 31, 1958, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, to Jack and Lela Hite.

Jack held various roles throughout his tenure with Raymond FD, including secretary, treasurer, and Captain. Additionally, he was the longest-serving employee of Hinds Community College, with approximately 45 years of service. If you were familiar with Raymond or Hinds, chances are you knew Jack and he more than likely helped you along the way. With the many roles Jack filled, including firefighter, policeman, counselor, preacher, husband, father, and many more, the most important role he held was that of a Christian. We take comfort in knowing that we will be reunited with him one day. Rest in peace, Jack. Your work here is done, and we are confident that you heard the words "Well done, my good and faithful servant."

Visitation was February 10, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Lakewood Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service was held on February 11, 2026, at 11:00am in the Chapel at Lakewood. Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park.
