Mary Collins Landin Recognized with Lifetime Achievement Award

GAZETTE CONTRIBUTING EDITOR RECOGNIZED WITH AWARD--- The Hinds County Gazette Contributing Editor, Mary Collins Landin, author of 'Utica News,' was recently awarded the ‘R. Harold Jones Lifetime Achievement Award 2022’ in recognition of ‘Achievements as a Professional Wetland Scientist’ by the Society of Wetland Scientists Professional Certification Program. Mary Landin told the The Hinds County Gazette, “My photo is on the Engineers Wall of Honor at the Engineering Research and Development Center, Waterways Experiment Station as Emeritus Scientist. Been there for 22 years. I won many medals and awards while at ERDC/WES, several I was invited to the Pentagon to receive. I also was ERDC/\WES Woman of the Year back in the 1990s. I learned a long time ago it is better if you are a woman to not go around bragging about things. The engineers I worked with accepted me better, even though I was the same rank as them, and folks around Utica for the most part did not have a clue what we talked about or the military research we do.”
