On Monday, October 5, Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gipson joined the Mississippi Egg Marketing Board as they partnered with the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce (MDAC) to show appreciation to local Mississippi veterans by providing and serving a special patriotic breakfast. The breakfast was held at the Mississippi Veterans Home in Jackson. Cal-Maine Foods provided eggs for the special breakfast.
The opportunity gave both the Mississippi Egg Marketing Board and MDAC a way to honor local Mississippi veterans before kicking off the 167th Mississippi State Fair October 8. This year's Fair is once again wrapped in red, white and blue with the theme, Let Freedom Ring!
"As we prepare to kick off the 167th Mississippi State Fair later this week, we were honored to serve our veterans a special patriotic breakfast and let them know how much we appreciate the sacrifices they have made for our great country," said Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gipson.
The Mississippi State Fair takes place October 8-18 at the Mississippi State Fairgrounds in Jackson. Admission to the Fair is free every weekday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with the exception of Columbus Day, October 12. Find the complete schedule of fair events at www.msstatefair.com.
