R by Kara Culp WOW! What a game Monday evening. In an exciting, nail biting, sweaty palms kind of win – my Indiana University Hoosiers are the official 2025 College Football Champions and I am over the moon! Before their recent turnaround, Indiana held the record for most losses in major college football history – around 700 losses entering the 2025 season. After this thrilling, undefeated season I finally understand why people enjoy watching football so much! While some may say that quarterback Fernando Mendoza’s electrifying airborne touchdown was the highlight of the game, my favorite part was when the camera cut to his parents after Fernando’s big play. I admired the way his father never stood up to cheer and was always seated next to his mother, Elsa, who has long suffered from multiple sclerosis. The Mendoza’s cheered on their Heisman Winner together, sitting side by side, and their look of shock and awe was some light on a very spepriceless. cial ministry happening This was clearly right here in Raymond. a team effort and the Did you know a Disaster synergy under the leadResponse Ministry that ership of Curt Cignetti is serves the entire truly movie-worthy! These are not just sheds; these are “sheds of hope.” Each shed provides an opportunity for us to connect the local church to a local family in need and share the gospel. Every six months, we follow up with that family to ensure that hope isn’t extinguished. Above all, the sheds are a way to introduce people to Jesus. Right in the backyard of Raymond, hope is being built up and shipped out. If you’d like a tour (or want to help out), feel free to stop by Pastor Zach Byrd’s office located next door to the church on Port Gibson Street. What a touching ministry and gap that is filled by the godly men of Raymond, the Raymond Presbyterian Church, and the Sheds of Hope crew.
