Raymond is a wonderful little town and there must be something in the water or the air because the town produces some really smart kids. There are some great kids graduating from high school this May and they have wonderful records. I certainly can not list them all, unfortunately. I can only mention those I have a message about.
Philip Elijah Stewart, son of Dr. Clarke Stewart is a member of Shackout Honors College at Mississippi State. He received the Colvard Future Leader Scholar-ship, Eagle Scout Scholarship, Engineering Excellence Scholarship, Freshman Academic Excellence Award, Maroon and White Scholarship. If the honors at the beginning of his academic years are any indication, we can be sure he will be a shining star at State.
JoJo Moss, son of Judd and Barbara Moss graduated Magna Cum Laude from Mississippi State. He is the third generation of bull dogs.
Kathy Butts Arnold, daughter of Maxine and the late Herbert Butts was presented with the Staff Excellence Dragon Award by the Office of Research Administration at Emory University in April 2022. The peer-nominated award is given annually to a staff member for delivering outstanding work in multiple performance areas. Congratulations to Kathy.
Laura Hogan Teddar and David had been spending a while in the Lake Powell area. They have now left and are headed into Utah. What fun to just wander.
David and Judy Henderson Bufkin have been spending several days with their daughter, Merrilee. Judy was treated to a wonderful Mother’s Day brunch. They shopped at the farmers’ market. Later they took a trip to Marshall Gold Discovery State Park, which is the site of Sutter’s Mill. It was really hot so they enjoyed great big snowballs.
Gloria Christianson, former resident of Edwards now lives in Indiana. She is taking the cruise ship down the Mississippi River. She got a long stop in Vicksburg so she visited old friends in Edwards. Jacqueline Canada set a beautiful table with a magnolia as centerpiece. Old friends came to enjoy a visit with Gloria.
Dr. Paula Stewart is visiting in Las Vegas.
Martha Ferguson asked for volunteers to assist in placing flags on veterans’ graves in the Raymond cemetery to observe Memorial Day by remembering those who served our country. Plans are underway to meet at the Dry Grove Road entrance at 8 A.M. on Saturday, May 28th. Flags to be placed will be available. Martha has led this effort for many years and volunteers are definitely needed. Not much news this week, please send me your news.
