Don’t forget Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 8.
The Mississippi Egg Marketing Board was a proud sponsor of the Governor’s Cup game at Trustmark Park. Bob Laster and daughter, Ryn Laster had a wonderful time.
Matt Harris gave his last performance of the year at Jackson Academy. His parents, Mac and Rachael Henderson Harris were there to see it all.
Carlee McDonald Soignier, daughter of Ryn Laster was honored by her employer Gum Tree Mortgage in Starkville. She was called a rock star of the company for her mortgage processing.
Ben Boteler bagged the turkey he has been trying to bag for three years. It finally happened. Ben is Dr. Bill and Jan Boteler. I hope they get some of that turkey.
Cara Ware, daughter of Rev. Clint and Cheri Ware graduated from University of Alabama at Birmingham. She was in the Honors College. She received High Distinguished Honors in Global and Community Leadership with a BS in Neuroscience. What a talented, smart, hardworking young lady. Her whole family attended graduation. Cara was the Clinical Research Coordinator for the UAB Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurobiology. Congratulations to Cara and her family. I just hope Cara gets time to sing with her busy schedule. She has a beautiful voice.
John and Mary Etta Naftel recently enjoyed a visit from two of their Atlanta grandchildren, Josiah and Meghan Boyd. In addition to playing numerous games with their Purvis cousins, Josiah and Meghan went fishing with John, toured the Civil Rights Museum with Mary Etta, and attended the end-of-year piano recital of cousins Charleigh and Helen Purvis.
Dr. Elizabeth Fike is practicing medicine in Walnut Ridge, AR. She is engaged to be married to Kenny Akers. They met in the Emergency Room where Elizabeth was working. Kenny is an EMT. They are marrying some time in the fall. They will be the only two at their wedding.
The ladies of First Baptist Church gave a lovely shower for Margaret Ann Montgomery bride to be of Ben Moss Lauderdale. The table held three vases of limelight hydrangeas and pink roses. The food covered the table and looked delicious. This is another lovely occasion I have had to miss due to my back pain. I would have loved to be there.
Another event I missed was the Rock-a-billy party given by Myrtis Ewing. She has given this for several years and it is always a lot of fun. Sorry I missed it.
My daughter, Mary has just messaged me a picture of her feeding a baby lion. The smile of her face is enormous. She is in Johannesburg, South Africa. This is one time that her job as flight attendant for Delta has really paid off. She is there long enough for her to go on an all day safari tomorrow. I guess the baby lion was a bonus. She said she was the only one there so had a private tour of the preserve.
Robert Culpepper was called up with his unit. He will be stationed on our southern border with Mexico for a year. Kara and his 3 sweet baby girls will really miss him. I know he will miss them. At least he is called up for duty in the US. Maybe he can come home a little and maybe Kara can visit him as well.
It has been announced that there is a nail salon coming to Raymond. It will be in the shop next to Corner Grocery. Lots of Raymond ladies are excited about this.
