Remembering John Gordon Roach Jr., Late McComb Attorney

John Gordon Roach, Jr. (September 8, 1938 – October 22, 2025), the late McComb attorney who served the people and institutions of Mississippi with superlative legal work for more than 50 years, was known to hit a filling station food joint whenever he felt the urge for a bite on runs from courthouse to courthouse, or after work.

His wife, Mary Ford McDougall Roach, a retired teacher, writer and humorist, notes that boiled peanuts, "the spicier the better," was JG's favorite item at these dens of gas station vittles. He would advocate for gas station cuisine to anyone who would listen, and he would have enjoyed seeing Mississippi's gas station and convenience store cuisine draw the national raves he always believed it deserved.
