This announcement has been released by the Jackson/Hinds Library System from Director Floyd Council:
“Now that Summer Reading has ended, in advance of back-to-school, we are happy to announce that JHLS is ready to launch system-wide Reference and Information Services with a lot of virtual reference focus. Traditionally all of our reference provisions have been anchored out of the Eudora Welty Library, but with the use of current technology we will use all of the tools that we have with or without a physical building.
“James Hampton has been assigned serve as Manager for Reference & Information Services.
James will report to the Deputy Director and lead some of the following services, programs, training, and outreach areas: -Coordinate system-wide Reference and Information Services for JHLS -James will travel to branch locations to assist branch managers and staff with our standards for
information service and basic reference. -Man Ask A Librarian Virtual Reference -Librarians House Calls -Handle System-wide reference inquiries -Assist Patrons with information services, reference, and advance research projects. -Assist Patrons with accessing and retrieving JHLS Reference, business, genealogy, government
documents, and other resources. -Host Readers advisory, reference, and research training, -Lead special oral history, genealogy, and research database projects. -Manage Microfilm Reading/ Printing service and training -Foundation Database Training -Law Library Collection coordination -etc........ & more

This coming Sunday (the 23rd) will be the eighth Sunday following Pentecost. Scriptures suggested for this weekend include Genesis 28:10-19a (Jacob’s dream in Bethel), Isaiah 44:6-8 (The Lord is the only God.), Psalm 139:1-11, 22-23 (God knows everything.), Wisdom of Solomon 12:13,16-19, Psalm 86:11-17 (a cry for help), Romans 8:12-25 (Be ruled by the Spirit.; our future glory) and Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43 (a story of wheat and weeds; Jesus’ explanation about the weeds).
