The Ella Bess Austin library is sponsoring "Celebrate Fall." The date is Thursday, October 8 from 11 to 1 o'clock. All ages are invited. Some of the activities include: face painting, crafts, trunk or treat and much more. Corey Tyler, Branch Manager is inviting everyone to come out and enjoy the fun!
The MS Department of Archives and History invites everyone to "Journey to Colonial Mississippi", an America 250 event. The location will be at the Old Capitol Museum on Sat., Oct. 3 from 9am to 4 pm. You will experience Mississippi during Colonial Times. The event is free and all ages are invited to enjoy the experience.
On Sunday, Hopewell Baptist Church, out from Terry, celebrated the 198th anniversary of the church. The service featured guest speaker Arlon Curtis and musical performance by John Marc and Alexis Strebeck. The church was established in 1828. As I recall, the town of Terry was established in 1855 and incorporated in 1867. Hopewell Baptist Church must be among the oldest churches in the Terry community.
The announcement by Hatachi to build a $528 million dollar factory in Gallman will be of interest in our community. The plant will employ 800 workers upon completion.
Enjoyed a pleasant drive last week to visit two elderly cousins. One is in a lovely nursing home in Collins. The other still lives at home in the Oak Grove community near Hattiesburg. Both have been ill, however, seem to be cheerful and improving.
